KCRQF Quilt Challenge - Women & Girls In Soccer
In celebration of the creativity of quilters and the advancement of Women in Sports, the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival is excited to introduce a Quilt Challenge - "Women & Girls in Soccer".
The Kansas City Current made history as it kicked off its 2024 National Women's Soccer League season. The Current plays their home games in the first & only stadium dedicated to women's sports worldwide. They are at the forefront of a shift towards recognizing and celebrating female atheletes' achievements. Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and the Kansas City Current celebrated this monumental achievment together, highlighting the power of collaboration and support in pushing the boundaries of women's sports.
KCQRF and Paintbrush Studio Fabrics support & celebrate this achievement in offering a fun and creative opportunity for an individual quilter to kick up their skills and style to reach for the goal of crafting a work of he"art" to earn a trophy of quilting.
Guidelines
1. Fabric type is your choice, but must contain at least one fabric from the approved list, a collection of fabric prints and solids from Paintbrush Studio Fabrics KC Soccer collection & coordinating PBS Painter's Palette Solids which can be found at local quilt shops and online. Only use the color palette included in these textiles. See KCRQF.com for more information.
2. Quilt design to be inspired by Women & Girls in Soccer and/or the KC Current team.
3. Use any quilt technique - piecing, English paper piecing, applique. As per the definition of a quilt - project must have a front, middle and back held together with stitching.
4. Add embellishment, if desired, such as embroidery, dyes/paints or beads only using the color palette allowed. These items must be securely attached to the quilt without extruding.
